Where is the year going....

We have been very busy at Glenrose - The Quilting retreats started a couple of months ago, so we have been very busy making sure all our ladies enjoy themselves during their stay.  If you would like to come along on a retreat with your small group of friends, we have a few vacancies left for mid-week self catered retreats.  The ladies stay in our cottages - 4 1/2 star rated - sew in the workroom - enjoy their meals in our dining area adjoining the work room.  The lounge area has a wide screen TV - so you can watch movies while you sew with your friends.  Also Glenose has one of the best patchwork shops in the area, you are welcome to browse for hours and look at the many samples Glenis has on display.

 "Sewing Room Club"  starting Feb 2011. 

We have designed a Sewing machine cover - mine fits my Pfaff Expression 4.0  - but we will be custom making each cover to suit your sewing machine.  The Machine cover is cross hatched quilted with flowers appliqued on to the front of the machine cover, included is a  large pocket on the back of the machine cover for your sewing manual.  The next project pictured is a Project roll with a small bag for your DMC threads.  In between each project we will be making several smaller projects like a rubbish container and scissor holders.  If you would like to be part of our group check out our website for more information on our classes.  www.glenrosepatchwork.com

Bali Pops Quilt

Just finished our latest shop sample.  We used one Rainbow - each Rainbow has 40    2-1/2" x 44" strips.  The pattern is called "Simply Squared" and is in the book Strip Happy.

Quilt size:  46" x 58"  if you would like your quilt larger just purchase two Rainbows or Jelly Rolls.

Perhaps you have some Jelly rolls in your cupboard, why not get them out and make this quick and easy quilt.  We stock the book and Rainbows.    Rainbows also come in a few different colours, two of my favorites are "creams & chocolates" and "steel blue-grey & browns".

"Happy New Year"

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year.  We had a very wet start to the New Year with the Condamine River flooding and causing havoc for poor travellers, our hearts go out to the people in other areas of Queensland that have had their homes flooded.

On a brighter note we had a great Christmas with our family. Jack our grandson was so excited about Santa leaving him presents, Lachlan and Will are so young to know what is going on just yet. Will came dressed in his Santa suit, he is four months old already and staring to smile.  Lachlan is with Nan - he is a Nanny's boy and love my necklaces.  Jack has his special photo smile, going through the "Cheese smile" stage.  Christmas was just lovely this year with the grandchildren, they kept Percy and myself busy but we really enjoyed every moment with our three gorgeous boys and of course their parents.

I am back to work today - must admitt I have really enjoyed my holiday break.  We have been working on workshop and class samples, so pop in and see what we have to offer this year.

Merry Christmas......

Bailey's Chocolate Balls.

Rum is not one of my favorite spirits so I decided to add Bailey's Irish Cream instead of the Rum.  Friends have been asking for my recipe and I thought you might like to try them also.

 

Crush 9 weetbix into a bowl, add 1 tablespoon cocoa, 1/2 cup coconut, 1 tin condensed milk and 2 tablespoons of Bailey's.  Mix together and put in the fridge for 20 minutes.  Roll in to bite sized balls and toss in to coconut.  Must be kept in the refrigerator.

Latest Fabrics......

  New Range of fabrics "French Dreaming" by Art Gallery.  We have made Pajamaspants for the ladies and little girls, the fabric is so soft and silky. The "Art Gallery" website has a feel download project sheet for a great simple modern quilt.

Clothes are the latest trend coming from America so why not make yourself something original, we have some great patterns for skirts.  All our fabrics are 100% cotton so make lovely garments for all ages.

Baby's Quilt.......

We have just finished this cute cot quilt, we also have the same in blue for the little boy's.  The centre is a panel with the alphabet, the alphabet on the boys panel has different little pictures than the girls. The stripe is part of the panel, so we just squared up the panel and added 3 1/2 inch borders to the panel.  Quilting was also very easy, we quilted down the squares in around the borders.  Lastly we added 3 inch bindings.  We have kits available at the moment for just $33.60 that includes your panel, border fabric and bindings.  Order online  www.glenrosepatchwork.com or give us a call and we can pop one in the post for you.

"Floating Squares Cot Quilt"

Just finished the binding on this simple cot quilt, our quilt is done in blues but would look just as great in pinks for a little girl. The pale blue squares look as though they are floating, and we chose a small jungle print for them.  Just arrived yesterday is a pink fairy fabric that would look cute if you were wanting a quilt for a little girl, will be on the website next week.

Raining again here, great weather for doing some sewing.  We have ladies on a quilting retreat this weekend ~ amazing just how much you can get done when the kids and husbands are not around.
